Andrea Velasquez
Workshop III: Care, Immigration, and Job Quality
Andrea Velasquez (She/Her) is an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of Colorado Denver. She earned a BA and MA in Economics from Universidad de los Andes and a PhD and MA degree in Economics from Duke University. She is an Invited Researcher at J-PAL and a Faculty Affiliate at the CUPC at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Her research lies at the intersection of development and labor economics, with a special interest in the topics of conflict, migration, and gender. Her work has examined the impact of economic and policy shocks (e.g., unexpected increases in violence, immigration enforcement policies, and extreme temperatures) on labor market outcomes, human capital accumulation, health, and migration.
