Ariane Hegewisch
Workshop II: The Undervaluation of Care Work in Human Services
Ariane Hegewisch (She/Her) is Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Women’s Policy Research. Her research addresses gender and racial wage gaps, occupational segregation, workforce development, and work-life policies.
She is a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance and was a member of the 2015-2016 EEOC’s Select Taskforce on Workplace Harassment. She joined IWPR in 2008, and previously was a visiting scholar at the Center for WorkLife Law at UC Hastings School of Law. Prior to coming to the US in 2001, she taught comparative European human resource management at Cranfield School of Management in the UK.
She began her career in local government in London as a policy advisor on sector strategies and women’s employment and training.
She received a BSc Economics from the London School of Economics and an MPhil Development Studies from the University of Sussex, UK.
