Closing Plenary: Crafting Solutions: Unblocking Progress toward Gender and Racial Economic Equity
Latifa Lyles (She/Her) is Senior Advisor to the Secretary for Women in Construction at the Department of Commerce.
Prior to this role, she was Special Assistant to the President at the White House Gender Policy Council. There she led the Council’s policy agenda on women’s economic security, including implementation of the first-ever National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality. Latifa served in the Obama Administration as head of the Women's Bureau at the US Department of Labor (DOL), where she led initiatives and programs on paid leave, pay equity, and women in non-traditional jobs, including leading DOL’s partnership with the White House Council on Women and Girls on the White House Summit on Working Families.
Prior to joining the Biden Administration, she led policy advocacy efforts at the intersection of gender-based violence and economic and workplace policy at Futures Without Violence, TIME’S UP, and the National Network to End Domestic Violence.
